New Delhi: Amid the ongoing vaccination drive, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW) on Thursday said that a total of 32 people have died after being inoculated with Covid-19 vaccine in the country till now.
In the last 24 hours, two new events of hospitalisation have been reported in West Bengal- one case of convulsions – condition stable and second case of anaphylaxis-condition stable, the health ministry further stated.
According to the health ministry, the cumulative number of Covid-19 vaccine doses administered to healthcare and frontline workers has reached nearly 98.5 lakhs today.”98,46,523 vaccine doses were given through 2,10,809 sessions, as per the provisional report till 6 pm today,” it said.
“This includes 62,34,635 healthcare workers (HCWs) who have taken the first dose and 4,64,932 HCWs who have taken the second dose, along with 31,46,956 FLWs (1st dose). While the countrywide vaccination drive was rolled out this year on January 16, vaccination of the FLWs started on February 2,” the ministry added.
On the thirty-fourth day of the nationwide vaccination drive, a total of 3,17,190 vaccine doses were given till 6 pm today. Out of which, 2,21,425 beneficiaries were vaccinated for the first dose and 95,765 HCWs received 2nd dose of vaccine as per the provisional report.
Eleven States/UT have vaccinated more than 75 per cent of the registered healthcare workers for the first dose. These are – Bihar, Tripura, Odisha, Lakshadweep, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, the ministry said.
‘Covid-19 tally mounts to 1,09,50,201’
With 12,881 fresh positive cases in the last 24 hours, the total number of Covid-19 infections in the country has reached 1,09,50,20, while the recoveries surged to 1,06,56,845, as per the latest data provided by the health ministry.
The death toll has risen to 1,56,014 with 101 more people succumbing to the disease in a day. The Covid-19 case fatality rate has dropped to 1.42 per cent, while the number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 1,06,56,845 which translates to a national Covid-19 recovery rate of 97.32 per cent.
The Covid-19 active caseload remained below 1.5 lakh. There are 1,37,342 active cases of coronavirus infections in the country which comprises 1.25 per cent of the total cases, the data stated.
